I am trying to capture via a Firewire/1394 card, with no luck. On my old Dell computer I was able to capture, but not burn to dvd. So, now that I have a new computer, with Vista, I cant even import/capture. I haven't tried the JVC software.
I don't know even what it does. I have tried Windows Movie Maker and still get the exact same error message. There are no gaps on my mini dv tape.
If you cannot capture with WMM then your have a problem with your capture card, your camcorder or the data on the tape, with your OS or some other problem It does nhot seem to be Roxio related alone. Did you ever find a solution. My PROBLEM is identical. I purchase a new Dell Inspiron 530 w/ Vista. I had a Gateway with Windows XP. Never a problem importing video from my JVC camcorder.
Now I have the same error message as you. I'm hoping you found a solution an can help me. Please post any info you may have. I've called Dell, JVC, Microsoft everyone just says the other company should provide a driver for me. No one wants to help fix the problem. I WANT WINDOWS XP back!
Yep, after many hours and $$$$$, new computer and video camera, I have resolved that my old JVC video camera GR-D93U is not compatible with Windows Vista. I even called JVC, Dell, and Canon. I purchased a new Canon ZR 950 mini dv video camera and everything works perfectly now. I was able to capture with my old computer with XP and the old JVC, but the new Dell 531S with Vista didn't work with the JVC GR-D93 camcorder. I found out about the JVC problem on the Dell Support Forum.

I was able to capture with my old computer with XP and the old JVC, but the new Dell 531S with Vista didn't work with the JVC GR-D93 camcorder. I found out about the JVC problem on the Dell Support Forum. And all that complaining about the Roxio software being the culprit! Looks like you were wrong. And how much help was this Forum?
I figured it out on my own with a little help from the Dell community forum. Oh, and thanks for no help and a negative attitude, also. As I recall, there were many folks trying to help you. Who was to know that JVC, who's company I have bought a number of products from, would have gone so far downhill. The problem was, you were so damned adamant, to the point of being arrogant, that it was the Roxio software at fault. The software sure isn't perfect, but in your case, it wasn't at fault.
