I have a Windows 8 Laptop, and this problem happened when I tried to download Skype after it suddenly stopped working for some reason. After many times of redownloading Skype, but not being able to run it successfully, I gave up and walked out to take a breather.
When I walked back to my laptop, it doesn't have a WIFI connection anymore, and when I checked the settings to enable WIFI again, the option isn't there anymore. I tried System Restore, reboot, 'turn on wifi button' etc. I think the problem lies within the laptop, any help? Here is what I mean when I say 'Wifi option disappeared' There is suppost to be an option for wifi below the bluetooth option. Seems like there was an extra option to enable WIFI, too many different ways to enable it or disable it. Many thanks to: icanpostnow.
Many thanks for the help. Why is there 3 different ways to enable WIFI? Fucking windows 8. I'm not familiar with 8 yet but I'll assume it's much like 7. I don't know your skill level with computers, but if you're not very knowledgeable about them, then it may SEEM like there's 3 ways to 'enable wifi'. There's different 'levels of networking' - to keep it simple, let's say a hardware level and a software level. This isn't 100% accurate, but for illustration: When you enable or disable the driver, you're working on the software level - you're working with the piece of software that acts as a translator between the operating system and the hardware itself.
When you enable/disable the adapter, you're working on the hardware level and actually turning the wifi card on and off. I don't really know what you're looking at, and can't off the top of my head guess what the third thing you might be looking at is, but maybe that will shed some light on your question.
