Delgado retired from the State Department of Personnel after decades of service. Together with his wife Julia, they completed their education, achieved success and fulfillment in their work and devoted themselves to their children. Del, as he was known to his friends, enjoyed playing golf, bowling and a regular game of cards. An avid reader, he welcomed a conversation about religious thought and politics. Del especially loved and cherished his friend, Edna Mazzeo, and the time they spent traveling and enjoying music theatre.
